Abraham Lincoln is reputed to have said that
“law is nothing else but the best reason of wise men applied for ages to the transactions and business of mankind.”
The terms “best reason” and “wisdom” certainly apply to the Knoxville lawyers we have assembled in the following pages, but Lincoln also said that “the leading rule for the lawyer, as for the man of every other calling, is diligence.” You will find such diligence in these listings, recognizing the men and women for their conscientious pursuit of excellence.
Each year, Cityview calls upon members of the Knoxville Bar Association to determine which attorneys in East Tennessee are best in their respective fields. Attorneys were asked whom of their peers they would refer friends and family to if they were in need of legal services.
Tennessee does not allow attorneys to advertise expertise in certain areas of the law, but, as a consumer, choosing an attorney with experience in the correct area is essential. To
that end, we have compiled this categorical list to assist you should you need legal counsel in East Tennessee.
Winners in many categories were so close in total votes that we are listing them alphabetically. We feel confident that all of the attorneys listed would provide good representation, but the results of this poll represent only one method of determining the best legal professionals in our area. We strongly advise you not only to use this information but also to use other quality sources of information.
Before hiring an attorney, it is important to schedule a consultation to ensure that he or she is a good fit for you. Don’t be afraid to ask for an explanation of the attorney’s experience in a certain area prior to discussing your own case, always be clear about the potential charges involved in a case, and be certain you have the ability to pay.
