Winter Downtown • December 2018
This season, Knoxville offered a variety of activities to get in the holiday spirit: Knoxvillians kicked off the season with the Regal Celebration of Lights where the 42’ Christmas tree was lit, businesses in the downtown area participated in the Peppermint Window Wonderland displays, and kids of all ages enjoyed the Holidays on Ice skating rink in Market Square.
WDVX Hillbilly Ball • November 16
On Nov. 16, the hillbillies dressed in their hillbilly best descended on The Standard on West Jackson Avenue to raise funds for (and celebrate the 21st anniversary of) radio station WDVX. The HillBilly Ball featured a silent and live auction, a seated dinner, and the musical stylings of Billy Strings, a folk and bluegrass quartet out of Nashville.
Zombie Walk • October 27
Dozens of undead danced and lurched during the Third Annual Zombie Walk on Market Square on Oct. 27. The event featured a performance of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” a costume contest, and the Zombie Walk itself. This annual event was organized by Eric Brown of Creature Seeker Studios.
