Williams Door Company has deep roots here in Knoxville, Tennessee. Specializing in both residential and commercial garage door installation and repair services, this fourth-generation company has grown from a fledgling business run out of a small garage to one of the largest overhead garage door dealers in the Southeast. With the only garage door showroom in Knoxville and a loyal customer base reaching across East Tennessee, the Williams Door family has proven that hard work, perseverance, and a genuine love for the work you do are vital to the success of any business.
The company was founded in 1971 by Mike Williams. A second generation Williams, Mike spent long hours building his company from the ground up. A family man at heart, his hard work and sacrifice not only provided for his family, but saw that his loyal employees were always taken care of. By 1984, the next generation of Williams children, Scott and Randall, were already working to keep the brand progressing.
Mike retired from Williams Door Company in early 2005, but returned a few years later to continue work alongside his sons. He retired in 2017, turning his duties over to Scott, who sits today as the company’s CEO. Mike remains on the board of directors, but is finally able to spend his days with his loving wife, Lois, of 58 years.
Fast forward to 2021, and Scott is now grooming the next generation to take over the company someday. Scott’s son, Blake, started working in the family business in 2012 and has quickly taken on many responsibilities, learning the intricacies of project oversight, quoting, sales, and material ordering. His oldest son, Cameron, is also within the door industry. And while Scott’s third child, Alexis, has yet to chose her career path (she is a third grader at Farragut Intermediate School), family values remain at the center of their work. And with long-time team members like Angie, who has been with the company more than 22 years, and Cary, who is coming up on three decades, it’s obvious why second and third generation customers keep placing their trust in this local business.
The company rosters brands such as Clopay, Genie, Lift-Master, Cookson-Cornell, ASTA, and Pioneer. “These are brands,” says Scott, “that are well-known and well-respected for their superior quality. I see it as a real vote of confidence from these brands that they put their trust in us.” The team provides a complete line of Clopay residential garage doors, LiftMaster residential door openers, Clopay commercial sectional overhead doors, ASTA rolling sheet and mini warehouse doors, Cookson-Cornell rolling service doors, LiftMaster commercial door opening devices and a wide variety of accessories and parts.
Williams Door Company has a large inventory of overhead acting garage doors, coiling doors, door openers, and repair parts along with a massive spring inventory of more than 55,000 pounds. The company is a multi-year recipient of the annual Top Presidential Award from Clopay Building Products—the largest manufacturer of garage doors in the country— for outstanding sales and customer service, after carrying the brand for more than 40 years. It’s hard work. But for Williams Door Company, it’s their kind of work, and they’re committed to providing it to the East Tennessee community for many more years to come.
