soon include the Phantom damages

Elimination Act (see “on the Level?”,
January/february 2014); Senate bill

880, which changes existing law to
allow home insurance companies to

deny homeowners sinkhole cover-
age; and Senate bill 360/house bill

174, which sets unreasonably high
standards for medical malpractice

claims for individuals who are ad-
mitted through the emergency room.

Where will it stop?
Instead of taking the time to pass

resolutions condemning Sex Week
at the university of Tennessee (hJR

0661), maybe our elected representa-
tives should spend that time consid-

ering how best to protect the needs
of the citizens of this state.

our system of government was
designed for a well-educated and

politically active population. The
level of apathy in the common per-

son today is so profound that even
when they learn of what is about to

happen, they can’t find time to call or
write their representative to object,

much less get out and campaign to
vote the career politicians out of of-

fice. unless we take action, the situ-
ation in our city, state, and country

will go from bad to worse.
but you can make a difference—if

you take a stand.
