January 11: Take a Chance on This

The ever-popular Knoxville Symphony orchestra Pops 
series is kicking off the new year with a tribute to ‘70s favor-

ite ABBA. Though the Swedish group broke up in 1982, their 
infectious tunes, including “Dancing Queen,” “Waterloo,” “Ring 

Ring,” and many more, have maintained their place in the panthe- 
on of pop music greats (leading ABBA to be inducted into the Rock

January 24: The Party Never Ends

Robert Earl Keen has come a long way from the Austin nightclubs 
where he started his career in the early ‘80s. The Texan singer- 

songwriter has performed with the likes of guy Clark and Townes 
Van Zandt, written and released 11 original albums, and is still 

strumming strong. Whether you’ll sing along with the country 
star’s every tune or see him for the first time, this show won’t 

make you say “I gotta go” until far into the night. Tickets are $29,

January 30: Umphrey’s McGee
‘Round the Mountain

Called “musical alchemists” by Entertain- 
ment Weekly, umphrey’s Mcgee is known 

most of all for being unexpected and in- 
novative. The band started in 1997 on the Colorado natives Adam Aijala, Jeff 

campus of Notre Dame university, and their 
first studio album was entitled Greatest
Austin, Dave Johnston, and Ben Kaufmann have 
Hits Vol. III. Mixing genres underneath a psychedelic lightshow, 

umphrey’s is not for the faint of heart—and they may keep you up been boldly standing outside of the musical

February 14 & 16: Potions Never Work
Yonder Mountain String Band continues to 

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with old world classic when you take your 
date to see Knoxville opera’s performance of Donizetti’s The Elixir meld bluegrass and traditional string music 

of Love. Performed in the original Italian with projected English 
subtitles, this comic romance was first performed in 1832. Nearly with rock, pop, alternative, and everything in 

200 years later, the tale of a poor peasant in love with a wealthy 
woman—who tries to win her with a bottle of love potion—will
