building a residence over a commercial
space has its challenges, such as the code-
required sprinkler system (including a
sprinkler head in the shower) and main
water feeds left in place. fisher worked
around these challenges with inventive
uses of color and decor to harmonize
them into the rooms. Even so, the work
was completed at a breakneck pace. “We
started demolition in April, started the
renovation in May, and finished in Janu-
ary,” says fisher.
All the appliances had to be craned in
through a window, and all the roof-top
planters, plants, kitchen, and furniture
had to be craned in as well. fisher reports
that it was a lot of fun to both watch—and
pray over.
