For Don Bosch, founding partner of the award-winning Bosch Law Firm, criminal defense isn’t just about courtroom battles or winning high-profile cases. It’s about helping real people navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives and emerge with a renewed chance at, once again, living a normal life. “We understand the personal peril that civil and criminal litigation places on our clients and their families,” says Bosch. With more than 37 years of experience behind him, Bosch has built his Knoxville-based practice on a simple but powerful premise: know the law, know the case, and—most importantly—know the client.

“Here is how I see it,” says Bosch. “If I can help people get their lives back on course—whether that’s avoiding jail time, helping them keep their job, or not being criminally charged at all—that’s what I find most rewarding.”

Bosch was exposed early to the criminal justice system: his father and uncle both served in law enforcement. That foundation, coupled with encouragement from two University of Tennessee law professors, set him on a path toward criminal defense. “This is an area where I felt I could, and still can, excel,” he reflects, “but also make a real difference—like my father and uncle have done in their own way.” And Bosch has certainly excelled. Among many other achievements, Bosch has received the highest ratings on multiple peer ranked and national surveys. He has previously served for six years on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, as an adjunct professor at the University of Tennessee College of Law, and also on the Knoxville Bar Association Board of Governors, receiving its highest honor, the President’s Award, for his work relating to juvenile justice issues.

The Bosch Law Firm, P.C. is built to support clients holistically, from the first phone call to long after the courtroom proceedings come to an end. “We stay with our clients,” Bosch says. “We don’t just close the file after the verdict. We help them re-enter society—restoring licenses, wrapping up probation expunging the records of prosecution … in short, anything that helps position them for success moving forward.”

That long-term support is more than a gesture—it’s part of a deeply ingrained team culture. Staff, investigators, and attorneys work together on each case. The aim is for each team member involved to know more about the case than anyone else in the courtroom, whether it’s the prosecutor, the judge, or law enforcement. Don, along with Ann Short and Mark Hazlewood ensure that clients are heard and represented to the very end.

Bosch believes in “good, old fashioned” human touch. While the firm embraces technology, Bosch insists that it’s the human element that makes the difference. “Science and technology are important, especially in today’s criminal defense environment,” he says. “But at the end of the day, all the digital exhibits and AI prompts in the world won’t matter if you don’t know your client, their case, and how to communicate it. That’s what wins  or favorably resolves cases.”

He sees this human focus as a defining trait of his firm, and a reason why so many former clients remain in touch, long after their cases are resolved. “Some even say, ‘You saved my life,’ or a parent says, ‘Thank you for saving my child’s life,’” Bosch says. “You can’t ask for more than that.”
