Building with Purpose

Guided by precision, and partnership, Biles Construction marries design, craft, and client vision to create works of art

Story and Photography by Nathan Sparks

When you meet Bill Biles, you get the sense he was born to build. “All I did was construction growing up,” he says. “My father was a trial attorney, and he always wanted me to be an attorney and follow in his footsteps. But it came to be my senior year in college, and I was working the summers on golf courses, doing construction planning and estimating for roofing systems. And I knew that I didn’t want to be an attorney.”

Biles’ passion for construction started early—his first summer job at age twelve in Bay Minette, Alabama, taught him the value of hard work. “I did it from the time I was 15 years old during the summer, and I worked every single summer until I was 19 years old,” he recalls. “It was very hard work. It taught me a lot.”

By 2009, he was ready to strike out on his own, founding Biles Construction. His first project—a 2,000-square-foot home he designed and managed from start to finish—proved he was on the right path. “I was so proud of myself,” he says. “I took my time because I didn’t want to make the crucial mistakes. I can make the small mistakes and recover from those and learn from those, but it’s hard to recover from those bad mistakes.”

Crafting Homes That Fit

Today, Biles Construction builds seven to 10 high-end custom homes a year, each between one and three million dollars.

“We’re a design-build firm,” Biles explains. “Whenever you partner with someone in the beginning, you understand who they are, what they want, what they don’t want, and what their lot looks like. We work with the architect, shoot drone videos, and get the topo survey on all of our jobs before we even start discussions on design.” – Bill Biles

Biles partners with trusted architects to align clients with the right designer. “We place our client with whichever architect we feel they’re going to be best suited,” he says. “We’re controlling the footprint, where the house sits, the layout, the aesthetics, ergonomically how the house functions—and we’re designing a home that fits within their budget.”

A Transparent Process

Clients stay connected through UDA Construction Online, tracking schedules, budgets, and progress photos.

“They have a direct connection into that,” Biles says. “Every Friday, they get a drone video of the outside and the inside. They get videos and pictures every Friday.” Daily site visits keep projects on track.

Building Relationships That Last

For Biles, construction is personal. “We have a true belief that God put us here to help people, not just to make a living,” he says. “We’re looking out for our client, their family, their investment.”

And at the heart of it all is joy. “I love my job,” he says. “We’re not just building brick and mortar—we’re building memories for these people. We’re building a legacy for them.”

That sense of purpose fuels every project, from foundation to final walkthrough. For Biles and his team, success isn’t just measured in square footage—it’s measured in trust, craftsmanship, and relationships that last long after the keys are handed over.
