For the team at Benton Roofing, their reputation as a quality roofing company is, of course, important. But not as important as their reputation as a company guided by Christian principles. The company’s story stretches back decades — 40-plus years, thousands of roofs, and two generations, in fact — when the Benton name first became a household word: one synonymous with dependable commercial and industrial roofing work across the Southeast.
These days, Benton Roofing calls Hendersonville, NC, home. They’ve earned an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau and hold licenses across several states. Nick Mock, Business Development Manager, puts it this way: “Over the past 40 years, we’ve established a reputation for providing high-quality commercial and industrial roofing solutions. We continue to build upon that reputation not just with quality workmanship and dependable service, but with the Christian values that guide us.”

“It’s the nuances that can set you apart.”
Benton Roofing’s growth isn’t just in the square footage it builds each year. Over time, and driven by that system of values that guide them, Benton has grown from 50 employees to 150 employees across three locations, as well as beyond commercial projects into residential.
At the moment, about 80 to 85 percent of Benton’s business is commercial. Though only in the residential market for a short time, the company has been able to quickly leverage their reputation on the commercial side to build the residential side with new roof construction, repair, maintenance, and historic roof restoration.
In an industry where it’s challenging to stand out, Nick says that Benton isn’t like its competitors. “Every roofing company can talk about their capabilities, service, and warranties,” he says, “so it’s the nuances that can set you apart. For us, it’s the experience. We offer the customer a single point of contact. We are with the customer every step of the way, and most roofing companies don’t offer that.”
Nick goes on to explain that with most companies, the customer’s initial contact is the sales person. Then the sales person hands the customer over to a project manager. If there are questions about billing, for instance, the customer then gets referred to the billing department. “Along the way,” says Nick, “the customer can experience up to four hand-offs… in a situation like that, things inevitably fall through the cracks, which can then lead to mistakes, mishaps, delays, and cost overruns.” This, however, is not the case with Benton Roofing.

Doing business the right way
As a company guided by Christian values, the team at Benton believes strongly in giving back. Habitat for Humanity is just one example.
“Last year,” recounts Nick, “we provided three roofs at no charge. We provided the materials and the labor, installing them and everything. It’s the kind of work we love. We also do what we can in partnership with other charitable organizations such as Samaritan’s Purse, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Hope Academy, Hendersonville Rescue Mission, and others. As the Bible tells us in James 1:27: ‘Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.’”
In the world of roofing, if you want a partner that stands by their work, and cares about more than just the bottom line, Benton Roofing is that partner.
