For 20 years, Four Leaf Peat has been bringing the spirit of Ireland home to Knoxville. Chad Beauchaine (fiddle), Rick Hall (hammer dulcimer, uilleann pipes, bodhran), and Jason Herrera (bodhran, flute, whistle) have been with the band since its inception in 2004, with Gil Draper (guitar, mandolin, bouzouki) joining in 2008.

“Here we are 20 years later,” says Beauchaine. “And we’re still having fun,” adds Hall.

This St. Patrick’s Day they’re making their way to the Bijou Theatre, which, as it happens, was also the site of their very first concert. “It was a night of Celtic music to save the historic Bijou in 2004,” recalls Hall. And just like back then, they’re excited for the opportunity to share more of their musical heritage.

“We take music from Ireland and we put our own personal imprint on it,” says Beauchaine. “This region did the same thing to traditional Irish music, so when people hear it, even though it’s not Tennessee music, you can hear the Tennessee in it.”

Their 20th anniversary concert will feature the traditional Irish music the band is known for, as well as special appearances by accomplished Irish dancers Claire Shirey and Jonathan Srour. Tickets are available online now at knoxbijou.org. You can learn more about the band on their website fourleafpeat.com.
