New Spa Offers All-inclusive Experience

Most people can agree that looking good on the outside goes hand-in-hand with feeling good on the inside. Therefore, combining medical aesthetics with wellness creates the perfect match for helping people enjoy quality of life. It takes a team of talented professionals to provide an all-inclusive experience for patients. Those are the principles that make up the “culture” at Culture Aesthetics & Wellness, a new medical spa offering East Tennesseans a one-stop shop for all things health and beauty.
Culture began as the brainchild of Erica Oakes, RN, CANS, a board-certified aesthetic nurse specialist and master injector recognized as Cityview’s 2022 Best Cosmetic Injector. Erica spent years working with a busy schedule of injectables patients at a Knoxville plastic surgery practice. Over time, she developed a strong desire to dive deeper and treat her patients more comprehensively and long-term.
Together with her equally passionate business partner, Leila Beyer, the two set out on a mission to form a team of likeminded medical professionals. With such infectious passion, Michael Fields, MD—whose practice placed in the top three in Women’s Health & Longevity in this year’s Best of—and Paul McCurry, MD, were more than willing to come on board as medical directors and part owners. It didn’t take long for skilled nurse practitioners, aestheticians, and office staff to round out the team. Thus, Culture Aesthetics & Wellness was born.
“We had a dream of a place where we could bring some of the best providers together and show Knoxville something it hadn’t seen before,” Leila says. “We want to be a one-stop shop for all things aesthetics and wellness. Our providers have that same vision. That’s how we ended up bringing everyone together.”
Culture offers popular aesthetic treatments, such as Botox®, dermal fillers, micro-needling, laser skin resurfacing, laser hair removal, chemical peels, and more. Tarah Brooke is a certified laser specialist with a passion for changing patients’ lives through laser procedures such as hair reduction, body contouring, and vaginal rejuvenation. Laura Price, a four-year running Cityview Best of aesthetician, is well-versed in dermatological skin solutions. She brings her expertise to Culture, providing a wide range of procedures driven toward healthy skin.
Clients are further served with a variety of wellness programs, such as hormone replacement therapy, weight loss management, and sexual health, all expertly overseen by Anya Zerilla, NP, WHNP-BC who has been one of the top providers for women’s health and hormone replacement in the Knoxville area. Erica Grinnell, RN, Culture’s newest addition, is an advanced injector with years of experience.
“It’s not just about looking good, it’s about feeling good, too,” Erica says. “There’s so much more under the surface that we want to dive into and be able to effectively treat our clients. That’s what sparked the dream of Culture.”
Collaboration is key when taking such a comprehensive approach. That’s why the team works closely to provide an optimal level of care for patients. “That’s the goal, to work with each other to provide the best experience possible for our clients and truly address their concerns,” Erica says. “Together, we can create a game plan to address the issues they have, but also enhance what’s already naturally beautiful about them, not to mention help them feel beautiful on the inside.”
Culture makes it a point to stay abreast of all the latest trends and technologies to ensure Knoxville isn’t left behind in this ever-evolving industry. The professionals at Culture regularly take advantage of continuing education to keep their skills sharp, and that’s all for the sake of providing consistent, top-notch client experiences.
“I love applying things I’m learning in the field to my clients here at Culture and keeping up with how this industry evolves. We all do,” Erica says. “But having our clients tell us our treatments changed their life, that’s what really means the most to us.”
