Birth of a National Park in the Smokies
July 25 - July 27
Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the movement that lead to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. One hundred years ago, the Great Smoky Mountains Conservation Association sent a Knoxville photographer on a mission to impress the Southern Appalachian Park Commissioners with beautiful photography so that they would name the Smoky Mountains a National Park.
