Knowing the Industry and the Area
When it comes to building, there’s certainly a lot to be said for experience. There’s also a lot to be said for knowing the area. Worley knows this well. “By the time I opened the doors at Worley Building back in 1991, I’d been around home building for decades,” he recounts. My dad started in the construction industry in the late 1960s, and I grew up around that,” he says. “I grew up walking footings with him and having him explain things to me. He was a teacher-coach kind of dad, and that’s how I learned the business.”
Worley also knows the Knoxville area well. “I’ve been in this industry, and Knoxville, for 35 years. I'm pretty much familiar with everything; how and why, for instance, a certain neighborhood might make the ideal home for a client. I think that adds a little bit to the whole community development process; when you have a sense for why people want to live in certain areas.”

Unlike many “cookie cutter” designs, Worley’s plans are researched and designed around features homeowners are looking for today, including practical layouts, energy-efficient features, open living spaces, and popular single-level designs. “We’re technically a production builder in that we offer limited floor plans, but unlike a lot of production builders—especially some of the nationals—we offer customizations within the parameters of the plans we offer.”
One Stop Does it All
From the initial consultation through construction and the final walkthrough, Worley prides itself on responsive, personalized, one-stop service. “We do the land acquisition, development and construction, and we’re also real estate brokers. We also have furnished models in our communities where people can see what we offer and make their selections if they want us to build for them.”
Ron Worley has watched Knoxville grow and change, and his company has grown with it. “Being born and raised here, you have an understanding of the community and the opportunities to create neighborhoods where people know their neighbors and develop lifelong friendships.
