James Taylor and His All Star Band will make their way to Knoxville this summer. The long-time favorite singer-songwriter will be on stage at the Thompson Boring Arena on June 22 at 8 p.m. and tickets are going fast. Knoxville is one of just 20 stops Taylor will make in the United States this year, after finishing up his Canadian leg of the tour.

Taylor released his debut, set-titled album back in 1968. More than five decades later he remains an artist that fans adore and one that other artists wish to become. To date, he’s sold more than 100 million albums and has six Grammys under his belt.

American Standard, Taylors 20th studio album, was released in early 2020. The acoustic album is a collection of covers of American standards, like “Ol’ Man River” and “Almost Like Being in Love.” The album—which displays Taylor’s never-changing voice and classic guitar—won a Grammy last year for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.

In the last couple years, aside from recording American Standard and his audio-only memoir Break Shot, Taylor has found ways to bring his music closer to fans. One of the ways being his virtual Guitar Lessons, his most recent of which was released in late April. Taylor’s picked some classic singles and is sharing them here for fans and artists to learn to play.

Later this year, Taylor will head overseas filling venues in Germany, Spain, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands, among other stops. But not before leaving his mark on the Marble City. Songs from American Standard and dozens of his classic songs from throughout the decades will ring out from the stage at the Thompson Boling Arena for all to enjoy.
