He’s coming home!
He rose to stardom just a few years ago, but the momentum hasn’t stopped! Hometown country music star, Morgan Wallen, will return to East Tennessee this September during his One Night at a Time tour, a surprise that many fans, friends, and neighbors never saw coming.
The tour dates had been set, but in July, Wallen announced that he’d be adding Rocky Top to the tour—and pegged Neyland Stadium as his venue. Then not long after his announcement—and after an overwhelming response from ticket buyers—Wallen announced he’d add a second date to the Knoxville stop. The kicker? This isn’t a common thing to perform at the stadium, usually earmarked for the Vols and their overwhelming showing of fans.
The first time Neyland Stadium saw a multi-night stop from a big artist was back in 1984, when The Jackson 5 arrived for a three-night series of performances. It had been nearly two decades until another artist came to perform—Kenny Chesney—and another 16 after that with Garth Brooks. Wallen joins a small group of artists who’ve had the privilege of performing in such a sacred space for East Tennesseans.
As of this writing, there were still seats available for the shows, but limited to say the least. If you’re lucky enough to scoop a few for you and friends, it’s sure to be an unforgettable couple of nights!
