Skin Wellness – Is your skin healthy and beautiful?

There’s a group of women who can help almost everybody in town—probably even you.

Most of us are plagued by something we see in the mirror. It might be lip lines, age spots, hair loss, or something more serious like eczema, psoriasis, or skin cancer. Whatever the concern, the all-female team at The Skin Wellness Center, 10215 Kingston Pike, is ready to help. Doctors Kimberly Grande and Meredith Overholt intertwine skin health and beauty, using the latest technology in both areas. Together, they bring nearly 60 years of combined experience to the practice.

Their approach blends advanced medical dermatology with aesthetic expertise, offering comprehensive care for both the health and appearance of your skin.

Skin Cancer Removal Without the Scalpel

Grande and Overholt say that some skin cancers, excluding melanoma, can be removed with a relatively new option that is pain-free, requires no incisions, and involves minimal downtime and scarring.

Using a series of quick, targeted radiation treatments known as the GentleCure method, cancerous cells can be eliminated with remarkable precision. The Skin Wellness Center is the only practice in Knoxville offering the GentleCure method, combining advanced image-guided ultrasound technology to pinpoint the exact location and depth of skin cancer before treatment.

“It’s great for aesthetic areas like the face,” Grande says, “particularly the nose tip and the scalp. We’ve treated several eyelids with the therapy, and patients sometimes prefer this non-surgical treatment even for skin cancer on the arm or back.”

Dr. Overholt adds that although patients with melanoma aren’t candidates for GentleCure, other advances are improving outcomes.

“Early melanomas have always been relatively easily cured with surgery,” she says. “Now, more serious melanomas are much more treatable thanks to medications. It’s not as scary a diagnosis as it used to be.”

Advances in Medical Dermatology

Beyond skin cancer treatment, innovation in medical dermatology is transforming care for chronic inflammatory conditions.

New targeted medications are now available for psoriasis, eczema, and other immune-related skin diseases.

“One of the most exciting things in medical dermatology is how effectively we can treat inflammatory skin diseases,” Overholt says. By targeting specific parts of the immune system, conditions like psoriasis and eczema can now be extremely well controlled.

Dr. Grande notes additional advances, including newer medications for hidradenitis suppurativa, a condition that primarily affects women and presents as deep, painful boils in the groin, underarms, or beneath the breasts.

The Science of Beautiful Skin

While medical dermatology focuses on healing, the aesthetic side of the practice helps patients feel confident in what they see in the mirror.

The Skin Wellness Center offers a wide range of treatments for hair loss, lip lines, age spots, and wrinkles.

Nurse practitioner Brittany Ware is the region’s expert on hair conditions, whether you’re experiencing shedding, thinning, or a medically diagnosable cause of hair loss.

Aesthetician Alexis Pacetti highlights two of the center’s most requested treatments.

“Our most requested service is a low-downtime laser we call Ultra,” she says. “It’s a gentle resurfacing laser that stimulates collagen, smooths skin texture and fine lines, and improves stubborn age spots and lines around the mouth.”

Low Downtime, High Impact

Nearly as popular is the BBL Fotofacial, which is not widely offered in other local offices, uses pulsed light to reduce redness, brown spots, and freckles while revealing smoother, more even-toned skin.
