Tablescapes
Hosting during the holidays puts the dining room front and center. Sam says to make your tablescape a conversation starter, but be careful not to overdue it with items that hinder guests from seeing each other to chat.
When it comes to plating, use existing china, and don’t be afraid to fuse patterns. Add a new element like a cloth napkin so that your display feels fresh. And don’t be afraid to incorporate your first course, like the salad, into your design. Sam says to let the colors of ingredients work with your tablescape, rather than compete for attention: “Colors within that salad could bring out some of the colors that are being used elsewhere at the table.”
