Grab your cameras and head to the mountains, the lake or the woods. The Tennessee Wildlife Federation is still accepting submissions for its seventh annual wildlife and landscape photo contest.
The winning photos will be displayed in the Federation’s 2022 calendar and on its digital platforms. The winners also will receive prizes that include gift cards, Patagonia gear, and Federation apparel.
Digital Photography School offers tips on its website for taking great landscape photos. Here are a few of their suggestions:
Location: Don’t rely on easily accessible viewpoints that everyone else can just pull up to and see. Instead, look for those unique spots that offer amazing scenes.
Lighting: The best light for landscape photography is early in the morning or late afternoon, with the midday sun offering the harshest light.
Equipment: A tripod is essential for shooting in low light or at slow shutter speeds. Light filters also help enhance the natural elements.
You can see all their tips here.
The deadline to submit photos is 11:59 pm on August 31. Voting for the People’s Choice winner will be open to the public on September 8.
