Local makers and growers are having a rough year and need our support. Here are five places in the Knoxville area you can go to support them.
1. Farmers Markets
There’s still plenty of growing season left to stop in one of our farmers markets and support local farmers and food providers. And take home something fresh and delicious to enjoy.
2. RALA
Rala is a little shop of treasures at 112 W. Jackson Ave in the Historic Old City. The shop offers modern goods and gifts from local artists and makers: original art, letterpress prints, greeting cards, contemporary jewelry and accessories and creative gifts.
3. Bradley’s
Looking for something sweet to share — or keep all to yourself? Bradley’s on N. Peters Road offers delicious chocolate treats, caramel popcorn, peanut brittle and more made in the kitchen next door — along with gift items, candles, stationery and home goods, much of it by local makers.
4. Southern Market
Looking for something new for your home decor or a special gift to give? The Southern Market in the Homberg area is an interiors marketplace offering decorative accessories, original art, garden decor, personal gift items and more — much made here in East Tennessee.
5. The Maker City Directory
Don’t want to leave home? You can find lots of local artists, jewelry makers, metal workers, soap makers, carpenters and much more in The Maker City’s online directory. Check it out here.
