Music is on the menu at Knoxville’s World’s Fair Park this month, and it’s free! The City is presenting five concerts on the park’s Performance Lawn starting on July 6.

Kyndra Brewer, the city’s Director of the Office of Special Events, said the Performance Lawn is ideal for social distancing. “At the time of planning Concerts in the Park the City was under strict Covid-19 protocols and  Market Square was not open to events,” she said. “The World’s Fair Park Performance Lawn is a large space where guests can social distance and feel comfortable in the open area.”

Concerts in the Park will feature a variety of musical styles. Greg Tardy Quartet led by saxophonist Greg Tardy kicks off the series at 7 pm July 6. The remainder of the lineup includes:

Contemporary country performers Joe Lasher Jr., Kaitlyn Baker and Commodore Fox will perform on July 7 at 6:30 pm.;

Smooth Sailor, a yacht rock cover band, performs at 7 pm July 8;

Jazz trio Eric Reed Trio plays on July 13 at 7 pm;

And on July 15 at 7 pm, Dirty Grass Soul, a North Carolina-based roots-rock band, wraps up the concert series.

Brewer said the concerts were scheduled so closely together because other activities occupy the park later this summer. She said the World’s Fair Park fountain will be open for splash pad play.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic to the concerts; no food vendors will be on site. All City-owned garages offer free parking after 6 pm.
