There’s no one better to steward you through the Knoxville housing market than a Knoxville native, who knows the market through and through—its history, its present, the trends on the horizon, and the nuances associated with buying or selling a home in the region.  After all, real estate is local.

That seems to be why so many people are turning to Laura Slyman, owner and broker of Slyman Real Estate, and her team.

Laura hails from a family of realtors, all from Knoxville. In 1970, her father Jim opened Slyman Real Estate and Auction.  Today, Laura draws on her 65 years of combined experience with her father and mother to lead the growing real estate firm. “Experience in any industry is king,” she says. “I’ve taken what my parents have taught me and married it to what I’ve learned in my own 18-year career. That combined experience instills confidence and trust in our clients.”

A University of Tennessee graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and a Masters in Business Administration, Laura earned her real estate license in 1999, and less than a decade later officially took over the real estate portion of the family business, made it her own, and made it what it is today.

The firm is now 35 agents strong, but the most unique aspect of this thriving Knoxville real estate business is how Laura goes about selecting her superior team.

“All of my agents are independent, and they must have three years real estate experience to work here,” she says. “My agency is filled with experienced agents, and I continue to sell real estate right along with them.”

When clients work with the firm, they work either directly with Laura or with her buyer’s agent, Beth Miser, who has been with the firm for almost 14 years. Laura prides herself on offering this personal service and doesn’t believe in farming her clients out to new agents.  “When you hire Laura Slyman, this is who you get,” she says. “It’s not fair to my clients to place them with inexperienced agents.”

Laura serves as the 2018 President of the Knoxville Area Association of Realtors.  In this role, she uses her real estate experience in a leadership position to promote professionalism in the real estate industry.

Laura and her team are there at the drop of a hat for their clients, ensuring all client questions are answered honestly and in a timely manner. They take great care to ensure that every room in their home looks just as it should to offer viewers the best visual of what life could be like in that potential new space. 

And the personal aspects don’t stop with the clients buying homes.

That personal touch also translates into the user experience for potential homebuyers and tangible value she offers her sellers. True 3D Virtual Tours of homes accompany each of her listings. She offers complimentary staging services, professional photography, video, and aerial views for each home she lists, each of which has its own website.
