5 Ways to Help Our Community This Weekend
1. Shop the farmers market.
Saturday is the final day of the Market Square Farmers’ Market at Mary Costa Plaza outside the Civic Auditorium / Coliseum, 500 Howard Baker Jr. Ave., so go support our local growers and stock up on some fresh Thanksgiving ingredients at the same time. Opens at 9 am for the elderly and immune-compromised only; and at 10 a.m. for the public. Closes at 1 pm.
2. Pitch in at the Friendsgiving Fundraiser.
Elst Brewing Co, Steamboat Sandwiches, and Loch and Key Productions on Central are joining forces Saturday to throw a Friendsgiving Fundraiser for #Knoxville’s Slumdog Rescue Crew! Grab take-out, pick up a growler, or hang out in the safely spaced outdoor courtyard at this all-day event.
A portion of the proceeds will go to Slumdog Rescue Crew, a local rescue organization that’s dedicated to rescuing URGENT dogs from high-risk shelters.
3. Shop the Old City Market.
Local makers will sell their wares Sunday at the Old City Market at Jackson Terminal from 11 am to 4 pm. And that’s better than online shopping anytime!
4. Spruce up Cal Johnson Park.
Keep Knoxville Beautiful needs help Saturday at Cal Johnson Park, 507 Hall of Fame Dr., from 10 am to noon. Park at Cal Johnson Park or the Knoxville Coliseum parking garage. All supplies will be provided. Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring water.
5. Attend a virtual festival.
The Laurel Theater is hosting its 51st annual Jubilee Festival online this year, with all kinds of local music. Click here to see their schedule of performers today and Saturday.
