The UT Gardens has chosen birdhouses as the theme of its new Art in the Gardens project for 2021. Home Sweet Home: A Birdhouse Exhibit is the fourth annual them for the art project designed to promote community participation and artist collaboration while raising awareness and support for the UT Gardens.

Amateur and professional artists are invited to artistically interpret this year’s theme. Each artist will be provided a pre-fabricated, functional birdhouse as a canvas to decorate and/or embellish. There are two designs available this year: the Roomy Roost and the Cozy Cottage. Artists can sign up for either design or one of each. When completed, artists will return and donate the birdhouses to UT Gardens, where they will be installed throughout the Gardens. The exhibit will open to the public on Friday, June 4, and pieces will be displayed throughout the summer. The birdhouses will then be auctioned in September with all proceeds benefiting the UT Gardens, Knoxville

For those interested in participating in the 2021 Art in the Gardens project, artist guidelines and a link to our on-line registration are available on our website: https://tiny.utk.edu/birdhouse.  Entry fees are $20 per birdhouse. Once registered the artist will be directed to arrange for birdhouse pick-up and payment.  Registration is open and will continue on a first come, first served basis until all forms are reserved. Pick up times will be available Monday -Friday, at UT Gardens, Knoxville. Deadline for return of completed works is Monday, May 3.
